Generations opened its doors in 1999 in it’s former North Providence, RI location. The program was opened in a two-story historical building, circa 1930, which was formerly a parochial school. Throughout its lifespan, the company has undergone numerous major renovations and expansions to keep up with its ever-changing needs and fantastic growth. The original building housed an open dining room, various break-out classrooms, an arts and crafts area, computer room and Movie Theater, with nursing stations and administrative offices set in a horseshoe around the common area.
Over the last eighteen years, Generations has grown into a thriving community, filled with laughter, learning, perseverance, and most importantly, lots more participants! In July of 2011, Generations completed its most ambitious project to date – the build-out and relocation of its new home in Smithfield, RI. With nearly 30,000 square feet of space, the state-of-the-art facility includes an open dining room, spacious physical and occupational therapy suites, a complete commercial-style classroom kitchen, bright and airy common spaces and classrooms, fully equipped gym/exercise room, walking track, 110” projection screen TV movie theater and so much more!
